Join us for two focused panel discussions exploring stronger internship and work-based learning partnerships, followed by networking with participating employers, colleges and universities.

Panel Discussions: 9:00–10:45 AM (choose one)
    Networking: 10:45–11:30 AM

Panel session 1 will focus on how employers engage higher education and build talent pipelines. Session 2 will focus on what happens once a student enters that pipeline and how employers can create an experience that benefits both the student and the organization.

Need to get back to your workday? The panel discussions will conclude by approximately 10:45 AM. Attendees are welcome to stay for networking through 11:30 AM as their schedules allow.

    Panel Discussions

Panel One - Beyond the Job Fair: Employer Strategies for Building Higher Education Talent Pipelines
    • Attending a career fair is only one step in developing a strong talent pipeline. This session will explore how employers can build meaningful, ongoing relationships with colleges and universities to connect with students studying in the fields their organizations need. Employer and higher education partners will share practical strategies for identifying the right academic programs, connecting with faculty and campus leaders, increasing visibility among students, and becoming meaningfully involved in the campus community. Attendees will leave with actionable ideas for moving beyond transactional recruiting and creating partnerships that support their long-term workforce needs.
    • WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
      • Employers who . . .
        • Do not currently have strong relationships with colleges or universities.
        • Want to establish an internship or work-based-learning pipeline.
        • Struggle to attract candidates in particular disciplines.
        • Attend career fairs but are not seeing the desired results.
        • Want practical guidance on whom to contact and how to become more involved.

Panel Two - The Internship Experience: What Works and What Doesn’t
    • This session will explore what makes an internship or work-based-learning experience meaningful and successful from both the student and employer perspectives. Current or former interns will participate alongside the employers who worked directly with them, allowing attendees to hear both sides of the experience—what the employer intended, what the intern experienced, what worked well, and what could have been improved. The discussion will focus on what students value in an internship, including meaningful responsibilities, mentorship, feedback, professional development, workplace exposure, and opportunities to build relevant skills and certifications. Panelists will also discuss how well-designed internship programs can help students clarify their career interests while helping employers develop a stronger pipeline of future employees.
    • WHO SHOULD
      • Employers who . . .
        • Already have an internship program in place, even roughly.
        • Are looking to make their program more lucrative/competitive.
        • Struggle to attract candidates in particular disciplines.
Students can also attend this session to understand expectations of an internship.

Networking will follow the panel discussions, with opportunities to connect with participating colleges, universities and employers and learn more about internship and work-based learning opportunities.
